IPL 2023: Sourav Ganguly Set To Rejoin Delhi Capitals As Director of Cricket

Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly is all set to return to the Delhi Capitals of the Indian Premier League as its Head of Cricket (Director). This will mark Ganguly’s first assignment since his tenure as BCCI President ended last year.

Ganguly had previously acted as Delhi Capitals’ and collaborated closely with head coach Ricky Ponting in the 2019 IPL. However, he was forced to quit his position in October 2019 after being elected as the BCCI president.

As per reports, he would also supervise all of the franchise’s cricket operations, including the ILT20 squad Dubai Capitals and the SAT20 league team Pretoria Capitals.

Ganguly’s term as president came to an end after former World Cup-winning all-rounder Roger Binny was overwhelmingly elected president of the BCCI in October 2022.

Ganguly established a good working rapport with the Delhi Capitals’ leadership and players. The former India captain was frequently seen in the dugout, and after an IPL 2019 victory, a shot of him lifting Rishabh Pant went viral on social media.
