13 Killed, Several Missing in Cloudbursts in Himachal, Uttarakhand

New Delhi: At least 13 people have died and several others are missing in cloudbursts in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Rescue operations continue in these two rain battered states to locate the missing people.

Death toll is feared to rise as more rainfall was predicted for the two states.

In Uttarakhand, nine people died. Three deaths reported in Tehri, two each in Haridwar and Roorkee, and one each in Chamoli and Dehradun.

Three people were killed and at least six injured after a house collapsed in the Ghansali area in Tehri district. A sanyasi is missing after the cloudburst in Tehri.

According to the Tehri administration, the Chardham Yatra is affected as it might take four to five days to build the bridge connecting the Chardham Yatra.

In Himachal Pradesh, three people — two in Mandi and two in Rampur died– and 44 were missing after cloudbursts in several areas. In the Rampur area in Shimla district, one died and 36 others are missing after a cloudburst on Thursday. Meanwhile, eight people were missing in Mandi.
