Bengaluru has earned the title of India’s “Veggie Valley,” with Swiggy’s latest analysis revealing that the city accounts for a staggering one-third of all vegetarian food orders in the country. This insight was shared during the announcement of Swiggy’s Green Dot Awards, which recognize the nation’s top establishments for exceptional vegetarian cuisine.

According to the analysis, six of the top ten most-ordered dishes nationwide are vegetarian. These include popular items like masala dosa, paneer butter masala, Margherita pizza, and pav bhaji. In Bengaluru, local favorites such as masala dosa, paneer biryani, and paneer butter masala dominate the food scene.

Breakfast emerges as a significant time for vegetarian orders, with over 90% of breakfast choices being plant-based. Favorites such as masala dosa, vada, idli, and pongal top the morning menu. Nationwide, masala dosa is a staple across all meals, while Margherita pizza is the most popular snack, closely followed by samosa and pav bhaji. Even international quick-service restaurants are witnessing a notable rise in vegetarian orders.

The Green Dot Awards, featuring over 9,000 nominated brands across 60+ categories including Pure Veg Brands, Cakes & Desserts, Veg Pizza, Veg Burger, Paneer Dishes, Veg Biryani, and Dal Makhani, aim to celebrate the increasing demand for vegetarian cuisine across India.
