Odisha: Thunderstorm, Hailstorm Likely In Several Districts Tomorrow, IMD Issues Yellow Alert

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre has issued a weather forecast for several districts of Odisha, indicating potential thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds, with wind speeds reaching 40-50 KMPH. Additionally, hailstorms are likely in certain areas.

The forecast attributes these weather patterns to prevailing Northwesterly and Westerly dry air, coupled with high solar insolation. Maximum temperatures are expected to soar to 40°C or above in many interior districts, with some areas experiencing temperatures 3°C to 5°C above normal.

Given these conditions, people are advised to take precautionary measures when outdoors, especially between 11.00 AM and 3.00 PM.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of South Odisha and in one or two places over the districts of North Odisha.

Heatwave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Khurda, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Bolangir, Boudh, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, and Nuapada.

Hot and humid weather conditions are very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.

Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 KMPH is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Subarnapur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj also hailstorm is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of South Interior Odisha, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.
