WATCH: Massive ‘Dinosaur’ Crocodile Captured Near School In US

A massive crocodile, measuring in at a whopping 12.5 feet, was safely captured and relocated after a concerned citizen spotted it near a popular school pathway in St. Petersburg, Florida.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) received a call about the large reptile on Monday morning. The gator was spotted near Joe’s Creek close to 46th Avenue, an area frequently used by students on their way to school.

“We arrived on the scene to find a truly enormous gator,” commented a PCSO spokesperson. “We immediately contacted the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) for assistance with relocating the animal.”

The PCSO ensured public safety by securing the perimeter until professional trappers from the FWC arrived. The gator was then captured and transported to a new location in South Florida.

This incident comes on the heels of another crocodile encounter reported earlier this week. A farmworker in Martin County was attacked by an aggressive alligator while working on a pepper farm. Thankfully, the victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and received medical attention at a local hospital. The gator, exceeding nine feet in length, was removed from the area.
