Fake Police Officer Arrested for Cheating Job Aspirants in the Name of ASO Job Assurance

Bhubaneswar: A man named Rajesh Kumar Nayak was arrested for posing as a senior police officer to dupe job aspirants in the name of providing ASO jobs. This conman from the Balikuda area of Cuttack district was nabbed by personnel of the Pahala police station. As per the initial investigation, he is alleged to have cheated to the tune of Rs 17 lakh on the pretext of offering ASO jobs.

He used to pose as a senior officer of the Odisha Police, Crime Branch or IB. His nefarious activity came to the fore because of a complaint filed by one Akshay Mahanta of Rourkela. The complainant alleged that the accused and his associates had taken away Rs 8 lakh from him on the pretext of providing him with an ASO job in the High Court. But he never got selected for the job. This accused had also duped another person to the tune of over Rs 7 lakh as well.

Police seized several police and doctor uniforms from the house of the arrested accused. It is suspected that the accused had conned several job aspirants of Kalahandi, Sambalpur, and Bhubaneswar by identifying himself as a police officer or a doctor.

The accused had set up opera (jatra) troupe with the money he duped from the job aspirants, police sources said. . Further investigation in this connection is underway, he added.
