No Confidence Motion Debate for 3-Days from Aug 8, PM Modi to Reply on Aug 10

New Delhi: The debate on the no-confidence motion moved by the Opposition against the PM Modi-led NDA government in the Lok Sabha over the Manipur violence will continue for three days from August 8. On August 10, PM Modi will reply to the Opposition’s no-trust motion.

This no-confidence motion was moved by Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi on behalf of the Opposition parties on July 26. As it had the support of over 50 MPs, it was accepted by the Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.

This no-confidence motion is bound to fail the numbers test. As per the Opposition, through this, they are only forcing PM Modi, to speak on the Manipur issue in Parliament.

This is the second no-confidence motion against the Modi Modi government since 2014. The first no-trust motion against it was moved in the Lok Sabha on July 20, 2018. But during voting, the NDA got the support of 325 MPs, while only 126 MPs supported the no-confidence motion.

At present, the BJP-led NDA has over 330 members in the Lok Sabha. The opposition alliance has over 140 members and nearly 60 members belong to parties not aligned to any of the two groups.
