TCS Partnership Fuels Youth Employability in Rairangpur & Gorumahisani

Rairangpur/Balasore: TP Northern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPNODL), a joint venture between Tata Power and the Odisha Government, inaugurated new Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives for citizen welfare in Gorumahisani and Chadeipahadi area, Rairangpur, on July 31st.

Esteemed dignitaries, including Saroj Kumar Dash OAS(S), Sub Collector, Rairangpur, Bhaskar Sarkar, Chief Executive Officer, TPNODL, Dushyant Kumar Tyagi, Chief of Commercial & CSR, Dillip Kumar Sahoo, Head CSR, Sagar Dutta, Regional Head, TCS, Subrat Kumar Giri, Principal, Gorumahisani Iron College, Harish Chandra Panda, SE Baripada, and Partha Sarathi Das, EE Rairangpur, along with Kulamani Giri, Lecturer – History, Gorumahisani Iron College, graced the event held at Gorumahisani Iron College, Rairangpur.

The initiatives aim to empower and uplift the local communities through skill development and sustainable livelihood opportunities. Key components include:

Employability Training in association with TCS: TPNODL has forged a strategic partnership with TCS to bolster the employability of youth in Rairangpur and Gorumahisani. The initiative focuses on imparting valuable industry-relevant skills and knowledge to BA, BCOM, and BSC students in the region. Approximately 60 students will undergo this comprehensive training program, spanning around 22 days, where they will acquire essential computer, communication, and managerial skills. This year, the program will enroll students in three batches, maximizing its impact on the local youth. Upon the successful completion of the training, TCS will conduct a comprehensive assessment to identify the most suitable candidates. TCS will offer employment opportunities to students who qualify the test, opening doors to rewarding career prospects in the technology and corporate sectors.

Solar Panel Repairing and Maintenance: Keeping in line with the growing focus on renewable energy, TPNODL’s training in solar panel repair and maintenance will equip participants with the necessary skills to contribute to a greener future while generating employment in the renewable energy sector.

Tailoring & Embroidery: Empowering women with vocational skills like tailoring and embroidery will foster financial independence and promote the preservation of local art and craftsmanship. This initiative aims to create a positive impact on the lives of women in the region.

Sal Leaf Plate Making & Marketing: Promoting the traditional art of sal leaf plate making, TPNODL aims to provide a sustainable alternative to plastic and styrofoam products. Additionally, this initiative will open avenues for income generation among local artisans, thereby supporting their livelihoods.

Livelihood Programme for Farmers: TPNODL is dedicated to supporting farmers by imparting modern agricultural techniques, best practices, and access to markets. By doing so, this initiative seeks to improve agricultural productivity and income levels for farmers in the region.
