TPNODL Empowers Marginalized Women Through Vocational Training

Balasore: As a part of the Corporate Social Responsibility campaign of, TP Northern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPNODL) A Tata Power and Odisha Government Joint Venture, is currently continuing its Vocational Training Centres at 2 locations namely Balasore and Rairangpur. This vocational training is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility campaign which aims to empower marginalized women through education and skill development.

Vocational Training Centre at Balasore imparts training in tailoring & Embroidery, Computers, Assistant beauty therapy, Spoken English and Personality Development, and employment course in association with TCS while Vocational Training Centre at Rairangpur imparts tailoring & Embroidery, Computers.

As a key initiative towards women’s empowerment, the efforts of TPNODL are continuing for uplifting the neglected women above 15 years of age by giving technical training with time duration of 6 months. The duration of the Computer Education Training Course sponsored by TCS is of 21 days, requiring a graduate in BA, B.Sc. or B. Com within the last two years.

In Balasore VCT, 273 women were given training in the first batch out of which 96 were in stitching, 41 in beauty course, 88 in computer, and 48 are in the employability course. In a similar way, 263 women are taking training in the second batch out of which 87 are in stitching, 34 in beauty course, 88 in computer and 54 are in spoken English and personality development.

Also in Rairangpur VCT 160 women are taking training out of which 80 are in stitching and 80 are in computer.

The program aims to provide marginalized students with the necessary resilience and job-ready skills to overcome social, economic and cultural barriers to achieve professional success.
