Odisha Raises Insurance Coverage for Working Journalists, Benefits Over 8,700 Journalists

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has raised the insurance amount for working journalists under the Gopabandhu Sambadika Swasthya Bima Yojana. In an official statement released by the Chief Minister’s office, Naveen Patnaik announced an increase in insurance coverage from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh. This move is expected to benefit 8,717 working journalists and their families in the state.

Furthermore, the government has also introduced additional financial incentives for journalists. In the event of a journalist’s unfortunate demise, their family will receive financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh. The Information and Public Relations Minister, Pratap Jena, made this announcement on July 6.

In addition to the above measures, the Odisha government has extended further support to journalists. They will now have access to housing loans with an interest rate of 3% up to Rs 25 lakh. Additionally, journalists can avail themselves of four-wheeler loans up to Rs 4 lakh and two-wheeler loans up to Rs 50,000.
