Odisha To Get 5 New PPP-Funded Multispeciality Hospitals

Bhubaneswar: Odisha is set to witness a significant boost in healthcare infrastructure with the introduction of five new multispeciality hospitals under a public-private partnership (PPP) model.

The Health and Family Welfare Department of Odisha recently inked agreements with private partners to establish affordable multispeciality hospitals with 100-200 beds in Angul, Barbil, Bhadrak, and Jharsuguda. Additionally, a state-of-the-art cancer care super-speciality hospital will be established in Jharsuguda.

These projects represent a substantial investment of Rs 500 crore and are expected to generate employment opportunities for more than 3,500 medical, paramedical, nursing, and administrative professionals.

The new hospitals will be the first NABH-accredited hospitals in Odisha to provide 24×7 trauma care, OPD and IPD services, as well as a wide range of multi-specialty and super-specialty healthcare services.

The government has emphasized its commitment to equitable healthcare and making healthcare accessible, affordable, and inclusive throughout the state. The MoUs outline the roles and responsibilities of both the government and private partners.

The government will provide land and capital assistance for construction, while the PPP partners will oversee hospital construction, deploy manpower, and provide healthcare services for specific durations.

In the case of the cancer care hospital, the government will provide land, construct the facility, and provide equipment, while the private partner will manage and operate the hospital for a defined period.
