New Delhi: Australia’s Glenn Maxwell raked up a record-breaking century, while David Warner notched up his second consecutive hundred to propel the team to a mammoth 399/8 against the Netherlands.

In this high-octane encounter, Maxwell stole the show by reaching his century in just 40 balls, eclipsing the previous World Cup record set by South Africa’s Aiden Markram, who had scored 106 off 49 balls on the same ground on October 7. Maxwell’s extraordinary innings featured nine fours and eight sixes.

David Warner, who had been in sublime form, contributed significantly with a well-compiled 104 off 93 balls after Australia won the toss and chose to bat.
