BJP-BJD Deadlock: Exit Poll Predicts 60-80 Seats Each in Odisha Cliff-Hanger

Bhubaneswar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is projected to make significant gains in the 2024 Odisha Assembly elections, according to exit polls conducted by Axis My India for India Today.

The polls suggest the BJP could secure 60-80 seats, a dramatic increase from their 23 seats in 2019.

The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD), which dominated the last election with 112 seats, is expected to face a substantial setback. Exit polls predict the BJD will win between 62-80 seats, potentially losing its majority in the 147-seat assembly. The Indian National Congress (INC) is also forecasted to slip, winning only 5-8 seats.

Most strikingly, the BJP’s vote share is projected to surge by 10%, reaching 42%, while the BJD’s may plummet by the same margin to 34.71%. The four-phase polling for both Assembly and Lok Sabha seats concluded on June 1, with results to be announced on June 4.
