Odisha’s Amit Rohidas Among 27 Selected for Crucial Paris 2024 Prep Camp

Bhubaneswar: Seasoned defender Amit Rohidas from Odisha has been named in the 27-member core group for the senior men’s national hockey coaching camp, scheduled from June 21 to July 8 at the SAI Centre.

Hockey India announced the list of probable players on Thursday, marking a crucial phase as the Indian team gears up for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

In the upcoming Paris Olympics, the Indian men’s hockey team is placed in Pool B alongside Belgium, Argentina, New Zealand, Australia, and Ireland. The team will commence their Olympic journey against New Zealand on July 27.

The national team returns to camp following a strong performance in the FIH Hockey Pro League 2023-24, where they currently stand fourth with 24 points from 16 matches.

The Tokyo Olympics saw the Indian men’s hockey team end a 41-year medal drought by securing a bronze medal. Many players, including Amit Rohidas, part of the Tokyo success story, are attending the Bengaluru camp, poised to replicate their historic performance in Paris.

Defenders: Harmanpreet Singh, Jarmanpreet Singh, Amit Rohidas, Jugraj Singh, Sanjay, Amir Ali

Midfielders: Manpreet Singh, Hardik Singh, Vivek Sagar Prasad, Sumit, Shamsher Singh, Nilakanta Sharma, Rajkumar Pal, Vishnukant Singh, Akashdeep Singh, Mohammed Raheel Mouseen
