ODISHA To Remain As Indian Hockey Team’s Title Sponsor Till 2033

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha cabinet renewed its sponsorship of the Indian men’s and women’s national hockey teams for another 10-years  on Monday in a bid to promote the game.

The Odisha government, which has been the official sponsor of the senior and junior teams’ since 2018, has chosen to continue doing so from 2023 to 2033. Odisha Mining Corporation Ltd (OMC) would release Rs 434.12 crores (excluding of any applicable taxes) to Hockey India between February 1, 2023, and January 31, 2033.

OMC had already engaged in a contract with Hockey India for the sponsorship of the Indian hockey teams (men’s and women’s, senior and junior) for a five-year term from 2018 to 2023.

OMC requested permission from the state government, which the Odisha cabinet has approved, based on a request for an extension of the contract from the president of Hockey India.

It is pertinent to mention here that the men’s team earned a bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympics for the first time in 41 years while the women’s team made it to the semifinals for the first time.
