AAP to Move Supreme Court After Delhi HC Stays Kejriwal’s Bail

New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced its intention to contest the Delhi High Court’s decision to stay Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s bail in the Supreme Court. This development comes after the High Court overturned a trial court’s order granting bail to Kejriwal in a money-laundering case linked to the alleged Delhi excise policy scandal.

The trial court had initially granted Kejriwal bail on June 20, setting a personal bond of ₹1 lakh. However, the Delhi High Court stayed this bail order on Tuesday. Justice Sudhir Kumar Jain, who presided over the case, criticized the trial court for not adequately considering the Enforcement Directorate’s evidence. The High Court also ruled that the trial court should have given the agency more opportunity to present its case.

In response to this turn of events, an AAP spokesperson stated, “We disagree with the Delhi High Court order and will challenge it in the Supreme Court.” Delhi Cabinet Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj indicated that the party’s legal team would determine the next steps in this legal battle.
