Centre Forms Committee to Probe Delhi Coaching Centre Mishap

New Delhi: The Union Home Ministry has formed a committee to investigate the deaths of three civil services aspirants due to flooding at Rau’s IAS Study Circle in Delhi’s Rajinder Nagar.

This tragic incident occurred last week, prompting immediate action from the ministry.

The committee has been tasked with examining the circumstances leading to the mishap, determining accountability, and recommending preventive measures and policy changes to avert such tragedies in the future.

In a post on X, the Ministry of Home Affairs stated, “MHA has constituted a committee to inquire into the unfortunate incident at a coaching centre in old Rajinder Nagar in New Delhi. The committee will inquire into the reasons, fix responsibility, suggest measures, and recommend policy changes.”

The committee will be composed of high-ranking officials: Additional Secretary from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Principal Secretary (Home) from the Delhi government, Special Commissioner of Police (Delhi), a Fire Advisor, and a Joint Secretary. The panel has been directed to submit its findings and recommendations within 30 days.
