New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: A day after resigning from the Rajya Sabha and the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), prominent tribal leader from Odisha Mamata Mohanta joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday.

Mohanta officially joined the BJP at the party’s headquarters in New Delhi, where she was welcomed by BJP national general secretary Arun Singh with a party shawl, cap, and bouquet.
The event was attended by senior BJP leaders, including Odisha in-charge Vijay Pal Singh Tomar, Mayurbhanj MP Ananta Nayak, and Odisha Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan.
Expressing her motivations, Mohanta stated that she was inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ideology, and work ethic and joined the BJP to better serve the people of her state. She also mentioned that she never had the opportunity to serve the people during her time in the BJD.
