Junior Engineer Nabbed While taking Bribe from Contractor in Jagtasinghpur Dist

Jagatsinghpur: Smruti Ranjan Nayak, a Junior Engineer (JE) posted in Naugaon Block of the Jagatsinghpur district along with another person named Babina Das was nabbed by the officials of the Odisha Vigilance while accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 from a contractor on Friday.

The bribe was demanded from the contractor for handing over of cheque towards clearance of his final pending bill.

According to reports, Babina Das was accepting the bribe from the complainant contractor on behalf of the JE. Vigilance officials nabbed both the accused. The entire marked up bribe money was recovered from their possession and seized.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations linked to Nayak from Disproportionate Assets angle.

A case has been registered by the vigilance department and investigation is underway.
