Odisha Declares One Day Paid Menstrual Leave For State Govt, Private Sector Employees

Cuttack: All women employees of the state government and private sector in the state will get one-day paid menstrual leave every month, declared the Odisha government on occasion of the Independence Day.

Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida made this announcement while speaking to newsmen on the occasion of the 78th Independence Day in Cuttack on Thursday.

Women employees of the state government and private sector will be allowed to avail this leave on the first or second day of their menstrual cycle.

Parida said that the Odisha government will shortly announce a Menstrual Health Policy. She said that this decision to enhance menstrual health among women has been taken by the Women and Child Development Department of the BJP-led Odisha government within the first 100 days of coming to power.
