On Independence Day CM Majhi Promises to Lift Odisha to Pinnacle of Development

Bhubaneswar: On the 78th Independence Day, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi hoisting the Tricolour and taking a salute from the security forces during the Independence Day celebration at the Mahatma Gandhi Marg in Bhubaneswar. He also announced several developmental programmes for the state.

Addressing the people of Odisha on occasion of Independenec Day, CM Majhi said, “Today is a very important day for Odisha. The state has embarked on a path of change. The people of Odisha have left the path of propaganda”.

Majhi said, “Odisha has vowed to reach the pinnacle of development with Asmita (pride) and Swaviman (self-respect).” The chief minister said that his government has set a goal to reach a 500 billion dollar economy by 2036 and a 1.5 trillion dollar economy by 2047.

He also remembered the Odia greats like Pandit Gopabandhu Das, Madhusudan Das, Nabakrushna Choudhury, Gapabandhu Choudhury and Shaheed Laxman Nayak, Veer Surendra Sai, Chakra Bisoi, Rama Devi, Malati Choudhury, Harekrushna Mahtab, Biju Pattnaik, and Parbati Giri.

Apart from speaking about the ‘Paika Rebellion’, Buxi Jagabandhu, Jai Rajguru and other freedom fighters of Odisha, he also paid homage to all the martyr soldiers who laid their lives while fighting for the country.

He started his speech with ‘Jai Jagannath’ and said he does not believe in showing big dreams to the people and was committed to fulfill the promises made.
