Stabbing Incident in School Sparks Communal Tension in Udaipur, Internet Shut Off

Udaipur: Communal violence sparked off in Udaipur of Rajasthan after a class 10 student stabbed another boy at a government school on Friday.

During the communal violence, a mob set fire to cars and pelted stones. The victim has been admitted to the ICU of the district hospital. His condition is stated to be stable.

Prohibitory orders banning the assembly of people were imposed in Udaipur.

The stabbing incident occurred at the government school located at Bhattiyani Chohatta of Udaipur. Members of some Hindu outfits gathered at Madhuban in the city to protest over the stabbing, which later turned violent.

Police said a mob pelted stones and set fire to three or four cars. The tension escalated on Friday evening, markets were shut in several areas. Miscreants also pelted stones at a shopping mall shattering the glass gates of the shops.

Internet services were suspended in Udaipur for 24 hours on Friday following communal violence.

The youngster who attacked with a knife at the school as well as his father has been arrested. ,” Poswal said.
