39 Runs in An Over! Yuvraj Singh’s Iconic Record Broken by Samoa Batter

Darius Visser, the Samoa wicket-keeper batter created history by scoring the most runs in a single over in men’s T20I. He scored 39 runs in a single over at Garden Oval No.2 in Apia during Samoa’s match against Vanuatu in the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub Regional East Asia-Pacific Qualifier on Tuesday.

In the 15th over of the Qualifier A match, Visser hit six sixes. With the help of three no-balls, the total runs scored in the over reached 39.

With this score of 39, Visser broke India’s former all-rounder Yuvraj Singh’s iconic feat of six sixes and 36 runs in a single over off England’s Stuart Broad in the inaugural ICC T20 World Cup in 2007. In the recent past Kieron Pollard (2021 – 36 runs), Nicholas Pooran (2024 – 36 runs), Dipendra Singh Airee (2024 – 36 runs) also matched Yuvraj Singh’s record.

Visser’s smash propelled Samoa to a score of hundred.

Visser’s impressive display included a total of 14 sixes, four short of the most hit by one batter in a men’s T20I.

Samoa registered their second victory at the event keeping alive their hopes of qualifying for the next edition of the T20 World Cup in 2026.
