Former India Spinner Narendra Hirwani to Lead Spin-Bowling Camp in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Former India leg-spinner Narendra Hirwani, renowned for his 16-wicket haul against the West Indies in the Chennai Test of 1987-88, will lead a spin-bowling camp in Odisha from August 21 to 30.

At just 19, Hirwani’s remarkable performance, where he took 8 wickets in each innings to secure a 255-run victory, earned him the Man of the Match award.

Hirwani’s spellbinding leg-spin, characterised by its turn, guile and trajectory, left a lasting impression.

In his international career, he claimed 66 wickets in 17 Tests and 23 wickets in 18 ODIs. He also enjoyed a successful domestic career with Madhya Pradesh and Bengal.

During the Odisha camp, Hirwani will coach cricketers of all age groups, including Odisha State Women Cricketers, providing invaluable insights and training. The Odisha Cricket Association announced the camp on Tuesday.
