11-Yr-Old Boy Killed After Falling into Open Drain in Berhampur

Berhampur: An 11-year-old boy lost his life when he fell in an open drain at lane No 14 of Laxminrusingh Sahi under Bada Baazar police station limits in Berhampur. The deceased identified as Sairam Patra fell into the open drain while returning from tuition on his bicycle on Wednesday evening.

Sairam could not detect the open drain that was overflowing due to incessant rains. Bystanders rushed to the spot and managed to recover his bicycle, but Sairam was swept away by the water flowing in the open drain.

After hours of search, his body was recovered from the drain at around 2:00 am on Thursday. The incident has spread a pall of gloom in the area.
