Man Loses Life After Falling Into Open Drain in Cuttack

Cuttack: A man was killed when he fell into an open drain at the Mahima Nagar area under the CRRI police station in Cuttack on Thursday morning.

The deceased has been identified as a mason hailing from Jajpur.

As per reports, the slabs covering the drain had been removed because of the ongoing construction work in the area. While returning home, the victim fell into the narrow open drain on Wednesday evening.

His body was recovered from the drain when it was found floating in the drain on Thursday morning. Police have seized the body for postmortem.

Tension prevailed in the area following the discovery of the body as the locals alleged that such incidents have become quite common due to the lackadaisical attitude of the administration. They alleged that the drain has been left open in a dangerous manner for more than a month now.
