IPL 2024, DC vs KKR: Batters Run Riot To Power Kolkata To 2nd Highest IPL Total Ever

Vishakhapatnam: Sunil Narine’s explosive 85 (39) and a fiery debut fifty from Angkrish Raghuvanshi (54 off 27) propelled Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to a mammoth 272/7 against Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 16th match of IPL 2024.

Narine was unstoppable, smashing seven sixes and seven fours to register his career-best T20 score. The DC bowlers had no answer to his power-hitting, particularly in the fourth over against Ishant Sharma, where he plundered 26 runs.

Raghuvanshi, making his IPL batting debut, complimented Narine brilliantly. The youngster, who didn’t get to bat in the previous match, grabbed the opportunity with both hands, scoring his first IPL boundary off his very first ball. The pair stitched together a quickfire 104-run stand to lay the foundation for KKR’s dominant total.

Andre Russell (41 off 19) and Rinku Singh (26 off 8) provided the late flourish, ensuring KKR posted the highest total conceded by DC in their IPL history. The Capitals’ bowlers had a night to forget, leaking runs aplenty. KKR batsmen peppered the boundaries with a staggering 18 sixes and 28 fours.

In response, DC had a terrible start to the chase losing 4 wickets for just 40 runs in the first 5 overs.

Brief scores:

Kolkata Knight Riders: 272/7 in 20 overs (Sunil Narine 85, Angkrish Raghuvanshi 54, Andre Russell 41; Anrich Nortje 3/59).
