DRDO, Indian Navy Conduct 2nd Successful Test of VL-SRSAM From ChandipurITR

Bhubaneswar: A second testing of the Vertical Launch Short Range Surface-to-Air Missile (VL-SRSAM) was conducted by the Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Navy from the Chandipur Interim Test Range (ITR) off Odisha coast on Friday morning.

According to reports, this second test of the missile was conducted at 10.45 am from Launchpad No.3 of the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur.

The surface-to-air VL-SRSAM missile, which has a target range of 80 km, successfully hit a laser target flying near sea level. Prior to the test, administration had evacuated the inhabitants in the two-and-a-half kilometer radius of the LC-III missile launch pad at Chandipur ITR.

Around 3100 villagers – 1,093 from Jaydevkasaba and Sahajanagar, 895 from Bhimpur and Tundra, and 1,112 from Khadu and Kusumuli  have been evacuated and they will stay at the temporary camps until the end of missile tests.

The first testing of the VL-SRSAM missile was conducted at 3.19 pm on Thursday from ITR, Chandipur.
