5 Injured in Blast at Rourkela Steel Plant

Rourkela: A blast at the Rourkela Steel Plant injured at least five employees including an official. The explosion occurred at the SMS-1 unit on Saturday.

The injured workers sustained severe burn injuries as hot molten steel fell on them.  Apart from the officer, the injured included two permanent employees and a contractual worker.

All the injured were admitted to the Ispat General Hospital for treatment.

According to reports, the explosion occurred at around 9.00 am.

The Rourkela Steel Plant authorities have not issued any statement regarding the explosion.

On July 1, in a similar blast at the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) in Sundargarh district injured seven workers.
