Desi Cows Declared ‘Rajyamata-Gomata’ by Maharashtra Govt

Mumbai: The desi or indigenous cows were declared as ‘Rajyamata-Gomata’ by the Maharashtra Government on Monday.

As per a government notification, the Maharashtra government took this decision considering factors like their significance since Vedic period, the importance of indigenous cow milk in human nutrition, ayurvedic and panchgavya treatment and use of cow manure in organic farming.

The Maharashtra government resolution was issued by the state Agriculture, Dairy Development, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Department.

This decision comes ahead of the state assembly elections in Maharashtra.
