10 More Detected Scrub Typhus Positive, Total Cases Rise to 221 in Sundargarh

Sundergarh:  Ten more people were detected to be infected with scrub typhus in the Sundargarh district during past 24 hours. With this, the total number of scrub typhus positive cases in the district rose to 221.

According to Sundergarh medical authorities, 51 samples were tested in the past 24 hours, of which 10 were found positive.

Scrub typhus infection spreads through bites of infected chiggers (larval mites).

The rising cases of chigger-borne disease emerged as a cause of concern for the district health department.

All the doctors in the district have been instructed to get patients tested for scrub typhus even with minor fever and other symptoms.

The health official advised the people to consult doctors if they have a fever for more than a week.
