15-Yr-Student Killed by Javelin During Practice in Maharashtra School

Mumbai: A 15-year-old boy died when a javelin thrown by another student accidentally pierced his head during a practice session at a school in Maharashtra’s Raigad district.

The victim identified as Hujefa Daware had bent down to tie his shoelace. So, he could not see the javelin coming towards him.  Daware was also a part of the javelin team of the school and was preparing for a taluka-level meet

This freak incident took place at INT English School at Purar, Goregaon, in the Raigad district.

The students were practicing javelin throws at the school’s playground when the mishap occurred. During the practice session, Daware failed to notice the javelin thrown by a fellow student, which pierced his head when he bent down to tie the shoelaces. He died on the spot due to excessive bleeding.

The police have also sought the footage of the CCTV cameras installed in the school and the ones covering the playground for investigation.
