17-Yr-Old Tiger Nandan Dies in Nandankanan Zoo

Bhubaneswar: Nandan, a 17-year-old tiger died after suffering prolonged illness at the Nandankanan Zoological Park in Odisha’s Bhubaneswar on Friday.

According to sources, this Royal Bengal Tiger named Nandan was suffering arthritis in his waist. He was being treated by the veterinary experts within the zoo premises. The Head of the Department of Surgery & Radiology at OUAT was supervising the treatment of the aged tiger.

Nandan strayed from a forest and reached the Nandankanan zoo in 2013. While in the zoo, Nandan mated tigress Megha in the zoo, producing two cubs in 2016 and an additional three cubs in 2021.
