19-Yr-Old Tigress Sara Dies in Nandankanan Zoo

Bhubaneswar: Sara, a 19-year-old tigress, died in Odisha’s Nandankanan Zoological Park on Thursday. She passed away due to age-related complications.

Sara was being kept in enclosure number 33. She was not taking any food in the recent past and was under treatment. She succumbed to her ailments related to advanced age.

Sara was brought to Nandankanan from the Bhopal Zoo as part of an animal exchange program. A white tigress was sent to Bhopal Zoo in return. With Sara’s death, the total number of tigers in Nandankanan now stands at 26.

Earlier in May, an 18-year-old tiger named Nandan also passed away in Nandankanan, while undergoing treatment for age-related issues.
