2 Earthquakes Shake Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi within 12 Hrs

Dehradun: Two earthquakes shook up Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi within 12 hours. But no damages were reported.

An earthquake measuring 2.9 on the Richter Scale hit Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district on Monday morning, stated the National Center for Seismology (NCS) website.

The earthquake in Uttarkashi occurred around 5km beneath the earth’s surface at 3:48 am.

Earlier at around 4.41 pm on Sunday, an earthquake of magnitude 2.5 hit Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district.

Uttarakhand has reported over 15 earthquakes this year. All of them were of low intensity.

Uttarakhand region is a high seismic activity zone. Most areas of this state come under Seismic Zones IV and V.
