20 More Tested Positive for Scrub Typhus in Sundargarh, Total Cases Rise to 292

Sundargarh: Scrub typhus cases are continuing to add up in in Odisha’s Sundargarh district. Twenty more scrub typhus cases were detected in Sundargarh district during past 24 hours. With this, the total number of scrub typhus positive cases rose to 292 in the district on Saturday.

Around 74 samples were sent from the Sundargarh district for testing on Friday. Out of them, 20 were tested positive. Till now

one person has died of scrub typhus in Sundargarh district.

Noteworthy, scrub typhus infection spreads through bites of infected chiggers (larval mites). The common symptoms of the disease include fever and a black inflamed mark on the skin called ‘eschar’. People who frequently visit farmland or forests are highly vulnerable to the infection.
