Vadodara: After the recent flooding caused by the incessant rains, a total of 24 crocodiles were rescued from residential areas in Gujarat’s Vadodara between August 27 and 29.

These crocodiles entered the city when the water level in the Vishwamitri river that flows through the city rose and flooded some areas.

According to forest officials, there are 440 crocodiles in the river. Some of them entered the residential areas during flooding caused by water release from the Ajwa dam.

Apart from 24 crocodiles, forest officials also rescued 75 other animals, including snakes including cobras, five large turtles weighing nearly 40 kilograms and a porcupine during the rains. The largest rescued crocodile was 14 feet long, while the smallest was of two feet.
