12-Foot Baula Crocodile Rescued from Village in Kendrapara Dist

Kendrapara: A 12-foot-long giant baula crocodile was rescued from a village in the Rajnagar block of Odisha’s Kendrapada district on Sunday night.

The saltwater crocodile (Crocodylus porosus) is called the baula crocodile in Odisha.

The baula crocodile was located and rescued at Jaduchandrapur village of Chandibaunsmul panchayat under Rajnagar block.

The stray crocodile was spotted in the backyard of a house at the village. Receiving information, forest officials rushed to the spot and rescued the crocodile using a net and ropes, with the help of locals.

The reptile would be released in its natural habitat, said the forest officials.

Around a week back another large crocodile was rescued from a nearby village.
