Youth Stabbed to Death for Refusing to Give Paan in Kendrapara District

Kendrapara: A youth stabbed a man to death when he refused to give a paan to him at Balarampur area under Kendrapara Town police station in Kendrapara district. The victim suffered 16 stabbing injuries and died during treatment.

The deceased was identified as Akshaya Kumar Khatua (35), an air-conditioner technician from Saranga village of Ostapur panchayat under the Kendrapara Sadar police station limits. The accused was identified as Aditya Prasad Behera from Chandia Palei village of Kansar panchayat.

According to reports, Akshaya had ordered some paan for his own consumption at a paan shop near a Hanuman temple in the locality on Thursday evening when Aditya asked him to give him some paan. Akshaya refused as he did not know Aditya.

An altercation erupted between the two over the petty matter. Things took an ugly turn when Aditya started stabbing Akshaya. Locals rushed severely bleeding Akshaya to the district Kendrapara District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), where he die during treatment.

After receiving information, police personnel reached the spot of the crime and took Aditya into custody. Further investigation is on.
