Two Secret Maoist Arms Dumps Unearthed in Malkangiri Dist

Malkangiri: During a joint operation, personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF) and local police unearthed two arms dumps of Maoists in Bhejangwada reserve forest in Odisha’s Malkangiri district on Thursday.

The arms and explosives seized from there included 7 SBML guns, two tiffin bombs, 4 hand grenades, a cylinder, electric wires and other Maoist materials.

Based on intelligence inputs, the personnel of Bodigata BSF camp, MV-21 BSF camp and district police launched a search operation in the forest. During the operation, they found arms and ammunition hidden by the Maoists at two places.

It is suspected that the Maoists had stocked the arms and explosives at the place to use them against the security forces operating in the Bhejangwada forest.

In the past Bhejangwada forest was a major Maoist stronghold. Due to intensive operations and repeated raids by security forces, Maoist activities have come down drastically in the area.
