Karnataka IT Employee Arrested for Cultivating Ganja in Malkangiri

Malkangiri: Odisha police have arrested a 41-year-old man named Lohit Arthur Sadasiv from Mysore in Karnataka on charges of cultivating cannabis in a forest in the Kalimela area of Malkangiri district.

According to Malkangiri police sources, this the first case in which a man from outside the State was arrested by the district police for his involvement in illegal farming of cannabis in the district.

Investigation has revealed that Lohit was involved in financing and promoting illegal ganja cultivation in the Kurmanur forest in the Kalimela area on Andhra- Odisha border since last three years. A police team from Malkangiri nabbed this man from Mysore. He is reported to be an IT employee.

He was providing seeds for illegal ganja cultivation in the Kalimela region of Malkangiri district.

Malkangari SDPO Sachin Patel informed at a press conference that the ganja illegally in the forests of Kalimela region was being smuggled to other states.
