Former Congress MLA Anshuman Mohanty Joins BJD

Bhubaneswar: Former Congress MLA of Rajnagar, Anshuman Mohanty formally joined the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) along with his supporters on Friday.

Anshuman, the son of late Odisha minister Nalinikanta Mohanty, had resigned from the Congress two days back. He joined the ruling BJD in the presence of the party’s general secretary (organisation) Pranab Prakash Das, ministers Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak and Pratap Dev, Rajya Sabha MP Manas Mangaraj, Kendrapara BJD observer Pratap Jena and Rajanagar MLA Dhrubacharan Sahu at the BJD headquarters Sankha Bhawan in Bhubaneswar.

Soon getting into the BJD fold, Anshuman met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at his residence.

Anshuman thanked the Chief Minister and senior leaders of BJD for accepting him in the party.

Anshuman was elected to Odisha Assembly from the Rajanagar constituency in Kendrapara district on a Congress ticket in 2014. He was defeated in the 2019 Assembly elections.
