$30 Million Stolen from Money Storage Facility in Los Angeles

Cash worth around $30 million was stolen from a money storage facility in Los Angeles in the US, reported local media. Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are investigating the theft.

This burglary of cash happened at a GardaWorld facility in Sylmar, a suburban neighbourhood in the San Fernando Valley, on Easter Sunday. The burglary occurred Sunday night at the facility where cash from businesses across the region is handled and stored.

The thieves broke into the facility undetected, without setting off alarms, by going through the roof.

The company that owns the building did not discover the massive burglary until Monday morning. According to the Los Angeles Times, it was the largest cash burglary in Los Angeles.

On September 12, 1997, a robbery of $18.9 million occurred from the site of an armoured facility in Los Angeles city.
