5 Killed, 45 Injured as Private Bus Falls into Gorge in Tamil Nadu

Chennai: At least five persons died and 45 others were injured when a private bus fell into a gorge in Tamil Nadu’s Salem on Tuesday night.

This private bus was travelling from Yercaud to Salem. Its driver lost control over the wheel at a hairpin turning and the vehicle plunged down a hill.

Rescue teams with the support of locals rescued the injured and admitted them to the Salem Government Hospital for treatment. However, at least five of them succumbed to their injuries.

Reacting to the incident, Union minister of State L Murugan took to X to extend his condolences to the bereaved families. He requested the Tamil Nadu government to provide adequate compensation to the victims and injured.
