Accused Escapes from Police Custody in Keonjhar; ASI, 2 Constables Transferred

Keonjhar: Following the escape of a robbery accused from police custody, an ASI and two constables of Anandpur police station in Keonjhar district were transferred on Thursday. They were charged with dereliction of duty.

It was alleged that the robbery accused could escape from the police lockup because of the carelessness of these policemen.

The escapee was Amar Sahu of Fakirpur village under Anandpur police station limits. He was arrested on charges of robbery from a mobile phone shop.

But somehow Amar could dodge the policemen at the Anandpur police station and escaped out of it.

But he could not remain out for long. He was tracked down and arrested again from Fakirpur Baitrani Ghat.

The transferred cops are ASI Anup Lubun and constables Meenakshi Mallik and Brajkishore Naik. They were in charge of the Anandpur police station when Amar managed to escape.
