Another Jawan Martyred in Ongoing Encounter in Kashmir Taking Army Death Toll to 5

Srinagar: Another jawan died in the ongoing encounter between terrorists and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Thursday. With this the death toll of Army personnel in the encounter continuing since Wednesday reached five.

On Wednesday four Army personnel including two captains and two jawans were martyred in this encounter. Three others injured, were admitted to the Army’s Command Hospital in Udhampur.

Firing in the region of Rajouri district resumed on Thursday morning, following an overnight halt. Two terrorists including a Pakistani national were slain during a continuing encounter in on Thursday.

This exchange of fire between terrorists and security forces occurred in the Kalakote area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district.

The slain Pakistani terrorist was identified as Quari, a senior leader of Lashkar-e-Toiba, active in the Rajouri-Poonch region since 2022. He was the mastermind of Dhangri and Kandi twin attacks, in which seven people were killed, and 14 civilians were injured. Quari was an expert in IEDs, trained sniper and adept in operating from caves.

The recent encounter began in Rajouri on Wednesday, in which four Army personnel, including two captains of special forces, were killed, and two others were injured.
