Armed Robbers loot Rs 8.5 Cr Cash & Gold from Bank in Chhattisgarh

Raipur: Armed robbers looted around Rs 8.5 crore worth of cash and gold from a private bank branch in Raigarh city in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday. The robbers also attacked and injured the bank manager.

This armed robbery occurred at the Jagatpur branch of the Axis Bank under the city Kotwali police station limits of Raigarh at around 9.30 am when the branch was being opened up.

According to police sources, around six to seven robbers were involved in this robbery. They entered the bank and held its staff hostage in a room.

The armed miscreants attacked the bank manager with a sharp weapon to take away the keys to the bank’s locker room from him. The miscreants escaped after looting the cash and gold ornaments and bars.

Receiving information, police rushed to the spot.

According to the injured bank manager, the value of the cash looted by robbers was over Rs 7 crore while looted gold bars and ornaments were worth Rs 1.5 crore.

Chhattisgarh police have launched a massive manhunt to nab the bank robbers.
