Ukraine Recaptures Klishchiivka in Ongoing Counter-Offensive Against Russian Incursion

Kyiv: On Sunday, Ukraine achieved a significant victory by recapturing the strategically vital town of Klishchiivka, located to the south of the key frontline city, Bakhmut. This marks a crucial milestone in Ukraine’s ongoing counter-offensive against Russia’s relentless incursion.

Klishchiivka, which had been a hotbed of intense combat for several weeks, fell under Russian control in January of this year. The village, once home to around 400 inhabitants, is situated approximately 9 kilometres (6 miles) south of Bakhmut.

In addition to recapturing Klishchiivka, Ukraine also gained control over the nearby village of Andriivka. President Zelenskyy emphasized the nation’s commitment to devising new defensive strategies, particularly focusing on strengthening air defence and artillery capabilities.

The highest-ranking military officer in the United States acknowledged that Ukraine’s overarching goal of liberating its territory from Russian forces presents a formidable challenge.

The battle inflicted significant damage upon Russian airborne units, the “Akhmat” battalion led by Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, the “Storm-Z” unit consisting of Russian criminals, the Russian general staff’s military intelligence, and motorized rifle units.
