Astrologer Attempts to Rape Woman, Arrested from Bhadrak

Bhubaneswar: An astrologer identified as Nilambar Pani was arrested by the Commissionerate Police on Thursday from Bhadrak on charges of attempting to rape a woman. The victim also alleged that the astrologer had also duped her of lakhs of rupees.

As per reports, Pani claimed to solve problems of all kinds ranging from marital tussles to financial crises through his astrological remedies.

The victim’s family from Bhubaneswar came in contact with this self-proclaimed astrologer. The victim came in contact with Pani through social media and sought his astrological remedies to solve their domestic problems. It is alleged that Pani took lakhs of rupees from her as consultation fees and gave a few cloves as the remedy.

It is alleged that he attempted to rape her on the pretext of conducting some religious rituals at her home.

The victim filed a complaint with police against the astrologer following which the accused was arrested from Bhadrak on Thursday.
