At Least 8 Killed in Explosion at TN Firecracker Godown

Chennai: An explosion at a firecracker godown in Tamil Nadu’s Krishnagiri district on Saturday claimed the lives of at least 8 persons and 10 others were seriously injured. The building of the firecracker godown collapsed because of the blast.

According to official sources, the casualties may increase as some more people were suspected to be trapped under the debris of the godown. Rescue operations were still on.

Krishnagiri police officers confirmed to the media that rescue operations are underway and the identities of the victims are yet to be ascertained.

Similar accidents are occurring at firecracker manufacturing units and godowns in Tamilnadu. On Tuesday, two female workers lost their lives in an explosion at a firecracker unit in Sivakasi.
